Fruitfulness… God’s Idea - Part 3

What did Jesus have to say about fruitful living?  Much of John 15 is printed in red indicating Jesus is speaking.  I made a decision some years ago to always agree with God’s Word and make it my final authority.  Someone once said “The red words win.” Meaning the words of Jesus should be elevated and seen as undeniable truth.

John 15:8 Jesus said, “When you bear much fruit my Father is honored and glorified, and you show and prove yourselves to be true followers of mine.”

This verse clearly states that it brings God glory when our lives are fruitful.  So let’s assume that logically the opposite would also be true. If our lives are not fruitful God does not get glory from our lives.

Religious teachings, not the Bible, have taught us the more base we are the more exalted God is. In truth, the better we look in the earth, the better God looks.  John and I have endeavored to train our children in the ways of the Lord all of their lives.  If they make good choices and live successful lives when they become adults, it will make John and I appear to have been decent parents.  If they on the other hand, end up as the picture of failure, unable to provide for themselves, having no lasting relationships then their lives will not reflect well on us as their parents.  In the same way, it is clear that our fruitful lives bring God glory and show the world His goodness.

In John 15:16 Jesus said “You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and have appointed you [I have planted you], that you might go and bear fruit and keep on bearing fruit.”
